Here is your chance to experience Sussex Farm like you never have before, while helping to feed the area’s hungry: The Charlottesville 29 Artisan Auctions. As one of the artisans of Prime 109’s August 20 Celebration of Charlottesville Restaurants, Sussex has created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for whoever pledges the highest donation to The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Thanks to the generosity of Sussex Farm, the entire winning bid goes directly to the food bank. And, thanks to the efficiency of the food bank, each dollar donated creates four meals for the area’s hungry.

The Sussex Farm signature experience for The Charlottesville 29 Restaurant Auctions:

Kimchi Forever!

With a cult-following in the Charlottesville food community, Sussex Farm’s Jen Naylor is a Korean food genius. She makes some of the best kimchi you will find anywhere, and sells it at area farmer’s markets. For an entire year, the auction winner will enjoy one free jar of kimchi each week. Using ingredients from her farm, Naylor’s kimchis can vary with the season, from cabbage to cucumber to apple and more. The auction winner will experience them all. Miss a week? Just pick up two the following week? Already have enough kimchi one week? Give a jar to a friend.

To ensure that the auction winner’s enjoyment continues beyond the year, Naylor will teach the winner how to make their own kimchi at home. The winner and four guests will spend an afternoon at Sussex Farm where Naylor will teach them her family secrets for making authentic Pogi Napa Kimchi. Step by step, the guests till enjoy a hands-on lesson, and will then take their kimchi with them to ferment at home. With the benefit of Naylor’s instruction, for the rest of their lives they can enjoy world-class kimchi whenever they like.

After their lesson, Naylor would not want her guests to leave hungry. So, they will be treated to an authentic multi-course Korean feast, served outdoors beside the farm’s bonfire.

Note: The auction winner will schedule their experience at a time that is mutually convenient for Sussex Farm.
