Ivy Inn Auction: Be a Michelin Star Sous Chef
by Charlottesville29
Here is your chance to experience Ivy Inn like you never have before, while helping to feed the area’s hungry: The Charlottesville 29 Restaurant Auctions. Along with all of the other restaurants in The Charlottesville 29, Ivy Inn has created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for whoever pledges the highest donation to The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Thanks to the generosity of Ivy Inn, the entire winning bid goes directly to the food bank. And, thanks to the efficiency of the food bank, each dollar donated creates four meals for the area’s hungry.
The Ivy Inn signature experience for The Charlottesville 29 Restaurant Auctions:
Be a Michelin Star Sous Chef
While Charlottesville chefs are no strangers to acclaim, our city has produced just one chef with a Michelin star to his name. Former Ivy Inn sous chef Jeremiah Langhorne went on to open the Washington D.C. restaurant The Dabney, which has earned a star from the Michelin Guide ever since the guide started covering D.C.. Langhorne also won the James Beard award for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic.
And now, you can cook with him.
Win the Ivy Inn auction, and you will join Langhorne and chef-owner Angelo Vangelopoulos in the Ivy Inn kitchen to prepare a spectacular tasting menu for ten of your closest friends. You will work side-by-side the two world class chefs in every aspect of an over-the-top seven course meal: from composition to preparation to execution.
Your guests will enjoy your creations in a private dining room, accompanied by specially procured New World and Old World wines with each course. Enhancing the experience will be the company of two of our community’s most enchanting personalities: Luca Paschina and Gabriele Rausse. Paschina is longtime winemaker and GM of Barboursville Vineyards, while Rausse owns Gabriele Rausse Winery and is Monticello’s Director of Gardens and Grounds. The two will share stories of food, wine, and life, while your group enjoys a once-in-a-lifetime feast.
To preserve memories of your experience, nationally renowned food photographer Tom McGovern will take photographs throughout the meal, in both the kitchen and dining room. McGovern has captured Langhorne and Vangelopoulos before at Ivy Inn, and will provide you a digital file of professional photos of your experience.
It’s the Ivy Inn experience of a lifetime: Be a Michelin Star Sous Chef.
Note: The winner will schedule their experience at time that is mutually convenient for all participants. Chef Langhorne does not live in Charlottesville, and so will require advance planning.
