If Charlottesville could use some good news today, here’s some. In a field that includes some of the nation’s best breweries, a beer made in tribute to Charlottesville has won Best Hoppy Beer.

Named after The Charlottesville 29, Reason Beer calls Collaboration 29 “a juicy, tropical love letter to our home town, brewed in partnership with Beer Run, Murphy & Rude, Kardinal Hall and The Charlottesville 29.” Just weeks ago, it was tapped at the Executive Mansion of Governor Ralph Northam. And now, at this week’s beer festival Microfestivus, it faced off against beers from world renowned breweries like Bell’s, Founders, Stone, Ballast Point, Sierra Nevada, and more. In the category “Hoppy Beer,” Collaboration 29 won first place.

Congratulations to Reason Beer brewer Mark Fulton and staff. And, most of all congratulations to Charlottesville.
