1. Fried Chicken at Goco. C-VILLE Weekly recently formed a panel to determine the best fried chicken in the Charlottesville area. Michie Tavern beat out a field that included many great sources of fried chicken, but not one that some say is the area’s best: the Goco food mart on Harris St. Already a favorite among Public Utilities employees and other blue collar workers, Goco’s chicken warrants a wider following. It is seriously good.
2. Heaven at BBQ Exchange. Some people say Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. At BBQ Exchange, Heaven is an extraordinary sandwich that we crave often. The foundation is BBQ Exchange’s amazing pulled pork. They put that on a house made roll, and pile high an over-easy egg, melted cheddar cheese, “Sticky Love” bacon, baconnaise, lettuce and tomato. While the parts are great, the sum is even greater. Heaven is right.
